Account Preparation

You need to prepare some accounts, which will be used later for registration and running the exSat client.

For Synchronizers

  • Your mining pool's block-reward address list: To qualify as a Synchronizer, exSat requires a mining pool to have successfully mined a block within the last 432 Bitcoin blocks (approximately 3 days). Eligibility is determined by the block-reward addresses, with any address that has mined a block in this period considered valid. Therefore, the accuracy and completeness of your block-reward addresses are critical for receiving corresponding rewards. Make sure to link all your pool’s block-reward addresses to your Synchronizer account. Click here for instructions on how to link your pool’s block-reward addresses to your Synchronizer account.

  • An EVM address for receiving XSAT rewards: This is an EVM address, typically managed by the financial officer. All Synchronizer rewards will be distributed to this address, and the financial officer can use it to claim rewards. If you don't already have an EVM address, refer to this guide to create one using MetaMask.

No registration on exSat is required for this address. You can use an existing EVM address from other networks, such as Ethereum, directly.

  • A BTC test3 network wallet with at least 0.01 BTC. During the Synchronizer account registration process, you will be required to transfer 0.01 BTC to an BTC account owned by exSat. These funds will be bridged to exSat and used as gas fee for the Synchronizer's tasks on exSat, such as uploading Bitcoin blocks.

For Validators

  • A BTC account with at least 100 BTC (on the Bitcoin mainnet for exSat mainnet, or on the BTC test3 network for the Hayek testnet): To become a validator and take part in the exSat consensus, you must stake at least 100 BTC. Ensure your BTC account holds a minimum balance of 100 BTC, which will be staked to your Validator account after registration.

If you encounter any issues obtaining test BTC on the test3 network, please reach out to the exSat team for assistance.
